The hottest debate in Vancouver over the next year? Without question it will be the new Vancouver casino proposal dubbed Victory Place Casino. As you can see in the photo, this is no ordinary Vancouver casino.
I’m sure there is no shortage of opinions on this casino proposal. I say go for it. Don’t people realize we have Edgewater Casino at BC Place already? Okay so this Victory Place Casino will be much more grandiose but what’s the big deal? I think it’s an exciting idea and bringing more people into Vancouver is a good thing.
Vancouver isn’t a small town anymore and that is something a lot of locals are having troubles dealing with. I know there are crime issues etc but those exist whether this Vancouver casino is built or not. Will people gamble more because of Victory Place Casino? No. Gamblers have the Edgewater Casino right now. If you need a fix for gambling the temptations are already there.
Victory Place Casino would replace more boring condo developments. Don’t you see the lack of anything in that current space? What’s interesting there aside from the sporting events? That area is bland and needs something. It’s void from activity outside of sporting events which occur “once in a while”. I see the Victory Place Casino as something that might be the Vancouver street car back on track. Enough people visiting the Victory Place Casino means the street car suddenly has a lot more feasibility.
I just think Vancouver needs to get over it. We were small town, but now we aren’t. More taxis, more hotels, more people and sure, more destinations are welcome in my opinion.
