A General Overview
One important aspect when visiting Vancouver or when you are deciding which attractions you want to enjoy is knowing what month you will be visiting. If you plan your Vancouver vacation in the winter, then there are even more attractions that you can enjoy. We are on the west coast of North America and that means mountains, snow and of course skiiing and snowboarding mountains! If you are going to vacation in Vancouver in the summer, then of course you will be enjoying a different variety of attractions.
We will provide very detailed information and many pictures of the best Vancouver attractions. Think of this page as being an overview of what you might plan your time when on vacation.
Stanley Park is the crown jewel of Vancouver. It is vast, it is green and it is a wonderful way to spend a sunny day or even a rainy day. Take a bus tour, a horse drawn carriage ride, or rent a pedal bike to tour the park. The entire park in surrounded by a sea wall. You have lots of energy? Get rollerblades, walk or run the scenic and beautiful park. There are wonderful restaurants, pitch and putt golf, outdoor swimming, waterparks, and wonderful sandy beaches. Another great Vancouver attraction is the Vancouver Aquarium. And guess what? Yep, it’s in Stanley Park also! Plan to spend a couple days of your vacation here.
Grouse mountain features a view from above the city. Breathtaking views during the day or night make this a “must do” Vancouver attraction. Take the gondola to the peak and have a nice meal and drink. Do this attraction in the summer or the winter! There is local bus service from downtown Vancover that will get you to the base of the mountain. If you are really looking for an adventure, you can use the Grouse grind which is a trail up the mountain instead of using the gondola. Of course the hike is only possible in the spring and summer times.
Vancouver is also home to some of the best salmon fishing around. The fraser river is one of the greatest, if not the greatest salmon rivers in the world. You can book fishing trips with guides and fish for salmon 9 months out of the year. This is a Vancouver attraction that a lot of sites don’t mention. Catching a salmon in the waters of Vancouver is an amazing experience. You get a fishing trip and a ocean tour of Vancouver at the same time. Summer is the peak salmon fishing season and you can fish right near the city itself. The views and wildlife make the experience a must do attraction.
If you had to choose the ultimate Vancouver attraction, Stanley Park would be your best choice. Words can only partially describle this tourism jewel. We will give you beautiful pictures of Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver BC so you can better understand this vacation “must do” attraction.

If you could imagine a vast park in the middle of a city, then you woulld have Vancouver’s Stanley Park. It is the jewel of the city and regardless of the time of year, you can enjoy its beauty. Not only is it simply beautiful, but there are many different activities that you can enjoy which will keep you busy for days during your Vancouver vacation. Regardless of your vacation budget, there are many different things you can do at Stanley Park.
I will list the popular attractions within Stanley Park, but first I think it’s best to tell you all about it. Vancouver photos of Stanley Park will give you the best sample of why you must see this during your vacation.
As I mentioned earlier, you can enjoy Stanley Park regardless of the time of year. Although this is true, Spring and Summer and your best times to come. In fact, the fall season up until late September can also be fantastic. With the rain that Vancouver is famous for, you will likely need to bring an umbrella and or rain gear. Of course if you want to enjoy the wet weather and soak your clothes, you can frolic without either of those items!
Lions Gate Bridge
The photo here is from a viewpoint looking over the Stanley Park causeway. This is a photo of a Vancouver landmark Lions Gate Bridge. It is a dysfunctional three lane bridge which alternates lanes during rush hours. Notice the light dusting of snow on the North Vancouver mountains. You can walk or walk your bike over the bridge to North Vancouver. I would choose a walk on the seawall as a better option of things to do. Safer, quieter, and much more beautiful.
